The summer holidays have flown by, and we now begin a new academic year. Are you ready?

A highlight of this summer was the Paris Olympics, where athletes from around the world showcased remarkable dedication and perseverance. We were especially proud of our Hong Kong-Chinese athletes for their outstanding achievements. Whether they won gold medals or not, they all displayed one key quality: tenacity.

Becoming an athlete requires consistent and rigorous training. Our athletes showed diligence and responsibility, practicing tirelessly and working together to excel in their sports. Standing out in such a competitive environment is not easy. As your principal, I encourage you to draw inspiration from these athletes. Let their determination guide you in your studies, helping you develop positive attitudes and strong values as you pursue your goals.

This year marks the beginning of our school’s Three-Year Development Plan. We have two key areas of focus: (1) To sustainably develop suitable teaching and learning strategies and develop a cross-curricular, interdisciplinary school-based curriculum to boost learning motivation and equip Matthew’s students with adaptable strategies and metacognitive skills; (2) To continuously cultivate students’ national identity and nurture Matthew’s students with a positive mindset, alignment between words and deeds, a willingness to serve, and commitment to our country and society through Values Education.

As Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it."
