開學禮時校長向全體同學教授了兩個英文字：Give(施予) 和 Take(獲取)。
Life is full of give and take. Give thanks and take nothing for
'Give thanks and take nothing for granted.'
Welcome back to school! I am delighted to greet you at the school entrance every day.
There is an old saying that the planning for a day starts in the morning and the planning for a year starts in the spring. The first day represents a new start as it brings hope and energy. In the last school year, we organized the Get Set Goal Learning Programme. Each and every student was enthusiastic and eager to learn and participate in the activities. When you are fully engaged in learning, you have the highest quality of performance.
In the Opening Ceremony I made a speech about ‘Give’ and ‘Take’. During the learning process, we acquire knowledge and skills, however, have we ever ‘given’ what we have to our family and friends? It is no doubt that acquiring knowledge is essential as a student and yet, it takes a lifetime to learn how to be a better person. I hope all students from St.Matthew's are willing to share and offer help to people around them, and most importantly, becoming a better people.
'Life is full of give and take. Give thanks and take nothing for granted.' It reminds us to express gratitude and not to take things for granted.
'In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35). I hope we all learn from Jesus and remember it is more blessed to give than to receive.
This year the school has prepared various fantastic learning activities to help you becoming a better person.
Give thanks and take nothing for granted.”
I look forward to your great achievements at the end of the school year.
